Career as a Tree Care Professional – Is It for You? - DTE Academy
Do you like working outdoors? Did you like climbing trees as a kid? Or, perhaps the office life just isn't for you, and you prefer something more hands-on. Answer yes to any of these questions and maybe, just maybe, a career as a tree care professional could be the one for you.
There are a wide range of jobs available, right now, in the tree care industry. From ground workers who are very much at the coal face, to fully qualified tree surgeons, aerial rescue specialists and consultants, there is plenty of variety to go at.
Importantly, there’s plenty of money to go at. Whilst your salary as a ground worker is only expected to be around £20,000 a year, in line with the national minimum wage, with time and experience you could see that annual figure double.
Qualified tree surgeons can earn up to £33,000 per year, with consultants and planning officers attracting salaries of beyond £40,000 per year. Not bad, eh?
Tree Surgeon Careers – The Benefits
Money might make the world go round, but it certainly isn’t everything! We’ve already established how much you could earn as a tree surgeon, but what are the other benefits of a career in tree care?
One key ‘pro’ is that this is a job in which you’ll genuinely make a difference to the world in which you live. Trees are hugely important to the environment, and your role would see you helping to protect and safeguard this environment which, as we all know, is so important to life on our planet.
Beyond this, you’ll be playing a huge role in public safety, too. By taking care of overgrown bushes and overhanging trees, you’ll be making our highways and pavements safer for all those who use them.
Finally, you’ll get to spend lots of time in the great outdoors. Lovely in summer, and fresh in winter. This can be so good for your mental health!
Making It Happen
Tempted? Good! The next step is for you to get yourself on a course here at the DTE Academy. We are all experienced and fully qualified tree surgeons, who take pride in developing arborists of the future (and indeed the present).
